It was part of the Chain Home radar system, a network of early-warning radar stations that helped detect incoming German aircraft during the Battle of Britain and throughout the war. These radar stations gave the Royal Air Force advanced notice of enemy movements, allowing for more effective air defence coordination. Truleigh Hill’s strategic elevation made it an ideal spot for radar towers, contributing to the overall defence of Britain’s southern coast.
